Hales Corners Chamber Opposes Hwy. 100 Expansion
Hales Corners, Wisconsin - November 23, 2009 - The Hales Corners Chamber of Commerce announced today that it is officially coming out in strong opposition to the efforts posed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) to expand South 108th Street, popularly known as Hwy. 100.
With Hwy. 100 serving as the major artery for the village of Hales Corners, the proposed expansion will undoubtedly have detrimental effects for all businesses and residents.
The Chamber views the proposed project as a no-win scenario. At its best, the construction will disrupt commerce and community life for a painstakingly expansive period. At its worst, many businesses will be forced to relocate, and some establishments may be forced to close their doors permanently.
In the last year, WISDOT has held three public informational meetings in Hales Corners, each one well-attended by concerned residents and merchants.
