Tae Kwon Do school opens in Hales Corners
A new Tae Kwon Do school has opened in Hales Corners at 5152 S. 108th Street (HWY 100)
in the Edgerton Plaza. Master Jay's Tae Kwon Do will be offering classes for youth, teens and adults on Tuesday and Thursday, and Saturday mornings. We also have our Wauwatosa studio at 9207 W. Center Street and classes are offered on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Students have the option to attend classes at either school.
The instructor, Jay Mustapich, has been teaching Tae Kwon Do independently in the last 10 years with experience teaching with the Milwaukee Recreation Department and for U.W.-Milwaukee. In addition to this, Master Jay has a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology- Counseling, and has worked with youth and adults in social services for several years.
Master Jay's philosophy on the martial arts is to incorporate the same principles he learned as a student. These include discipline, respect, self-control and the culture of Tae Kwon Do. The idea is for students to respect themselves as well as others. Students are taught to be leaders, and not just followers. Students learn many techniques that include punching, kicking and throwing. Yet more importantly, students learn how to avoid negative situations so as to use these techniques only when necessary to defend themselves or other people.
Tae Kwon Do means "the way of foot and hand" yet this is only the surface of the art. There is a deep tradition of honor and discipline that build the body as well as the mind and spirit.
