Farmers market will open Saturday, June 20
Harvest at the Homestead, Hales Corners farmers market, will open its season on Saturday, June 20, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The market is located on the grounds of the Stahl-Conrad Homestead, 9724 W. Forest Home Ave.
In addition to veggies and bedding plants, the market will feature creations by local artist Dara Chappie. She will offer concrete leaf castings and art made with coffee beans and other natural materials.
Customers will also be able to see the new display, Women's Work, in the farmhouse. The display features traditional chores performed by women. It focuses on cleaning the house, caring for children, preparing and serving food, doing laundry, and sewing clothing and household items.
Items in the displays consist of artifacts donaated to the Homestead or loaned by friends and local businesses.
The Homestead is a historical society chartered by the State of Wisconsin. It is a membership organization that welcomes new members who share a commmitment to preserving the land and buildings of yesteryear.
