Mequon Baseball Player, Yousef M. Friedman, Selected By Amateur Baseball Report To Play On All-Star Team

Aug. 11, 2012

MILWAUKEE, WI – After competing against many of the strongest baseball players in the Midwest, 12-year-old Yousef M. Friedman was once again selected by Amateur Baseball Report (ABR) scouts to showcase his skills on its Tri-State All-Star team and the 2012 U12 Wisconsin All-Star team. Players are selected to the teams by ABR scouts based on their game performance throughout the season and during select All-Star tryouts. Friedman earned a spot on both teams last season as well.

Friedman, an already experienced infielder, continued to build his baseball skills this season but in the outfield as a centerfielder for the U12 Hitters Baseball Academy Team. He played 45 games with 127 plate appearances, 110 at bats, and finished the season with a batting average of .336. Friedman was injured mid-season and on the DL for three weeks but will finish the season strong with his performance at the All-Star games. An exceptionally skilled base runner, he is among the top ten players, which includes 12 through 18-year-olds at Hitters Baseball Academy, for stolen bases during the 2012 season.

As a member of the Wisconsin All-Star team he will be one of 12 players on the U12 team which will compete against teams from Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Texas. His selection to the team will allow him to compete in a tournament with the best players at his age level from all six states. The games will occur in August in Fishers Indiana at Billericay Park

Friedman began playing baseball at seven-years-old and trains individually with Coach Warren Smith, a varsity baseball Coach at Oak Creek High School. He will be entering the 7th grade as a student at University School of Milwaukee, home to the 2012 Journal Sentinel High School Baseball Player of the Year, Josh Baker. He hopes to continue his training with Hitters Baseball Academy and play on the U13 Hitters Baseball Academy Team in 2013.
