The South Suburban Chamber honored Alverno College and Staybridge Suites Milwaukee Airport South, Franklin, at its Annual Awards Dinner, on Thursday, January 27 sponsored by the Northwestern Mutual Foundation; PNC Bank and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare.
Alverno College, Milwaukee, received the 2010 Pride in Premises Award and Staybridge Suites Milwaukee Airport South, Franklin, was named 2010 Business of the Year.
Christine A. Specht, president and COO of Cousins Subs, was the guest speaker at the event at the Clarion Hotel attended by 180 South Suburban Chamber members, business leaders and elected officials.
Alverno College, Milwaukee, won the Chamber’s Pride in Premises Award. Accepting the award on behalf of Alverno College was John Marks, Director of Plant Operations. The Pride in Premises Award is given to a company or organization who has demonstrated great care for their physical environment, for their buildings and surroundings. Alverno College was honored for their environmental stewardship, their landscape design and for transforming the entrance to the college by eliminated 110,000 square feet of parking area by building a parking garage in order to create more green space and athletic fields on the campus. The transformation of the College’s entrance and athletic fields was funded by a gift from the Reiman Foundation.
Meadowmere Assisted Living, Oak Creek, and Hilton Garden Inn Milwaukee Airport, Milwaukee, were recognized as finalists for the Pride in Premises Award.
Tammy Holmes, Staybridge Suites general manager, and Mark Hansen, sales director, accepted the 2010 Business of the Year Award on behalf of Staybridge Suites Milwaukee Airport South and all of its employees.
The Business of the Year Award is given to a company for their success, their contributions to the local community and to the community at large. In presenting the award, Executive Director, Barbara Wesener, said that the Staybridge Suites Milwaukee Airport South has been an active and generous corporate citizen in the Oak Creek, Franklin area, even long before they opened their doors in 2009.
Cousins Subs, Brother and Sister Subs System, Oak Creek and Franklin, and The Starr Group, Greenfield, were recognized as finalists for the Business of the Year.
