Lazich holds town hall meeting at library
State Sen. Mary Lazich, R-New Berlin, has scheduled town hall meetings in District 28.
They include from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. March 29 at Franklin Public Schools Education and Community Center, 8255 W. Forest Hill Ave, and from 11 a.m. to noon March 31 at Greendale Public Library, 5647 Broad St.

Casino Night fundraiser will include live music
The Greendale Panther Athletic Booster Club will hold its annual Casino Night from 6 to 11:30 p.m. March 31 at Tuckaway Country Club, 6901 W. Drexel Ave., Franklin.
The event will include live music by Jamit.
Tickets are $40 per person and include entertainment and appetizers.
Monetary and raffle prize donations will be accepted. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
The booster club helps to support 22 Greendale High School organized sports teams.

Fashion show to benefit prom, post-prom activities
Franklin - Franklin High School, 8222 S. 51st St., will host a Prom Preview Fashion Show at 7 p.m. April 3.
Twenty-two juniors will model and dance to show off the latest fashion for prom.
Admission is $5, which benefits the Junior Prom and post-prom activities.
There will be a Hunger Task Force food drive; participants will receive raffle tickets for donations.

Cyril Colnik is topic of Historical Society program
Hales Corners - The Hales Corners Historical Society will present its own member and author, Al Strekow, in a program about his book, "Cyril Colnik, Man of Iron," at 7 p.m. April 4 in the Hunt Room of the Hales Corners Library, 5885 S. 116th St.
A potluck supper will precede the free program at 6 p.m.
Strekow's book about the "Tiffany of wrought iron masters" will discuss the adventures of writing the book and his work on the Colnik collection at Villa Terrace in Milwaukee.

Church collects recyclables to raise funds
Franklin - St. James Parish, 7219 S. 27th St., will host a recycling fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon April 14.
Action Recycling trucks will be parked behind the church for collection of aluminum, iron, brass, stainless steel, copper, cast iron, breakage and miscellaneous. A detailed list is available at stjames-franklin.org.

CERT training available at police department
Franklin - The Franklin Police Citizens Academy Alumni Association will host a Community Emergency Response Team training class from 5 to 9 p.m. April 27 and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 28 and May 5 at the Franklin Police Department, 9455 W. Loomis Road.
Topics to be covered include disaster preparedness, light search and rescue, terrorism, fire safety, disaster psychology and a mock disaster drill.
To become a CERT member, participants must attend all three training sessions. The training is open to anyone.

Myers leads series of garden walks at Boerner
Hales Corners - Boerner Botanical Gardens, 9400 Boerner Drive, will host Melinda Myers and her "Discover Hidden Treasures" series.
The series, which began in January, will consist of six in-depth garden walks - four geared toward adults and two to families. Myers will share her knowledge and expertise and answer questions along the way.
Proceeds from the garden walks support Children's Plant Science and Environmental Education at Boerner Botanical Gardens.
Garden Walks (adult): $20 per class for members of the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens; $25 for nonmembers.
6:30 p.m. May 16: Discovering Solutions for Your Garden - Visit shady spaces, rock gardens, hot sunny spots and rain gardens for planting strategies.
6:30 p.m. July 25: Gardens of the Future - Visit one of only 43 All-American Selection Trial Gardens in the United States.
