Submit Your Stories

Posting your stories is easy. Use the form below to submit a story - and remember to give it a title. The byline will automatically appear as your name. And while we ask for your e-mail address, it will not appear when your story does. It's just for us to use in case we have a question about your story.

Your story may be edited for length, spelling or grammar, but for the most part we'll leave it pretty much the way you wrote it. All we ask that you follow our guidelines for writing stories and remember that we can refuse to post offensive or libelous stories.

We allow stories to be posted on up to five NOW sites. If you would like your story posted on several sites, put a note at the top telling us where you'd like it to appear, and we'll do our best to honor your request. There's no need to post the same story on multiple sites.

There is a strict 700-word maximum length on all stories. If your story is longer, it may get cut off before it ends.

Finally, we sometimes pick the best of the Your Stories to publish in our NOW newspaper on Thursdays. Stories that appear in the newspaper will be edited for spelling and grammar and may be rewritten to comply with our newspaper's style guidelines.

SOME POSTING SUGGESTIONS
Here's some general guidelines for posting your stories that will make your submission more readable:

  • Don't type in all caps.
  • Don't write one big block of text. It'll be easier to read if you break the text into paragraphs. To do that, just insert a line of space between paragraphs.
  • At the end of your text, make sure there's not extra lines of space or it will show up as blank space when published.
