Mother of beautiful angel, Kyla
There have been several times when I see an infant and think or say to Kyla, “I wish you were that tiny all over again!” I wouldn’t change a moment of what we have now but there is something so magical about a newborn. Personally I miss the cry of a newborn. Oh, it’s nerve-rattling when you can’t decipher it. But Kyla’s “a-waaahhh” will never be heard again and it makes me melancholy to think that precious sound is gone.
I must admit that in the craziness of new motherhood, the last thing on my mind was that we had to capture Kyla’s first week on film. I was more concerned about making sure she was eating enough and trying not to walk in to walls from sleep deprivation. I never thought I would want an “Anne Geddes” moment more than I would want a hot shower, a nap, and a single second to myself. After watching this amazing clip on the Today Show, I realize how wrong I was.
Enjoy, and I challenge you not to have a tear in your eye by the end of the segment.
P.S. to Meredith Vieira: Don’t act like the most child-loving woman in the world. During your stint on The View from ’97 to ’06, I can’t begin to count the liberal-junk-tidbits you spewed. How ‘bout this gem from ’03: “January 22, 2003: As "The View" crew ganged up on pro-life actress Jennifer O'Neill, Vieira argued: "But prior to abortion becoming legal that’s when things were really secret much more so than after it became legal, and very dangerous. So there is going to be abortion one way or the other."”
