Sears Holdings Corp. to close 3 more Kmart stores in Wisconsin, eliminate over 300 jobs
The Kmart stores in Hales Corners and Greenfield are scheduled to shut down in mid-April, along with a store in Portage, Howard Riefs, a spokesman for Sears Holdings, said Monday. Sears Holdings is the parent company of Kmart.
Liquidation sales will begin this Sunday at the Kmart stores at 5600 S. 108th St. in Hales Corners and 4601 S. 27th St. in Greenfield, Riefs said. The closing of the Portage Kmart will follow a similar schedule.
"These stores are being closed because the leases were not renewed," Riefs said in an emailed statement. "Store closures are part of a series of actions we're taking to reduce ongoing expenses, adjust our asset base and accelerate the transformation of our business model."
