The Legislative Audit Bureau (LAB) released the Supervised Release Placements and Expenditures audit about supervised release costs for sexually violent persons. After a year of treatment within a state mental health facility, a sexual violent person may petition for supervised release. Under supervised release the state of Wisconsin is responsible for finding housing and transporting the sexually violent person.
The audit revealed DHS is currently paying rent for 28 residences for people on supervised release with an average rental cost of $1,560 a month. Here is a link to the LAB’s audit: http://legis.wisconsin.gov/lab/reports/13-12full.pdf
