The Barking Lot is a regular weekly feature of this just in…Written by my lovely wife, Jennifer and me. It opens with the weekend dog walking forecast followed by the main blog from dog lover, Jennifer. Then it’s DOGS IN THE NEWS and our close. Enjoy!
THE WEEKEND DOG-WALKING FORECAST: We grade the weather outlook for taking your pet outdoors.
TODAY: Mostly sunny. High of 80. Chance of rain is 10%. "A"
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny. Chance of rain is 10%. High of 81. "A"
Here’s my lovely wife, Jennifer with this week’s main blog:
Somewhere in me, I must have a few drops of German blood. I can’t confirm that, but this Sunday I’ll be oom-pah-pah’ing with the best of ‘em at German Fest. I can’t wait for German-style pizza (who was the genius that decided to top a crust with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and brat slices? BIG kisses to them!) The delicious smell of spanferkel is enough to set my mouth watering. And desserts? Once my butt is planted at the Konditorei, all I need is Bienenstich washed down with eiswein.
That’s the trouble with eating German food… three weeks later, you’re hungry again.
Lest you think I am writing a food-related blog for Ms. Elaine Kneeous and not a feature of The Barking Lot, let’s be clear. Gemütlichkeit means one thing to me: The Dachshund
Our family will be cheering for those darling Deutsche Doxies as Kyla and I wish for our own “Weiner Dog.” After you watch the race you have a chance to chat with owners, learn about the breed and even make a donation to Dachshund rescue organizations.
So yes, I love to eat and I enjoy watching the Glockenspiel too. But as long as I get to see Dachshunds like this beauty, I’m in heaven.
(Thank you, Franklin Ald. Steve Olson for providing this stunning photo of Bella Olson.)
Thanks, Jennifer. There's no question the second best looking member of the Olson family is Bella, right behind Mrs. Olson.
