This Just In ...

Kevin Fischer is a veteran broadcaster, the recipient of over 150 major journalism awards from the Milwaukee Press Club, the Wisconsin Associated Press, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, and others. He has been seen and heard on Milwaukee TV and radio stations for over three decades. A longtime aide to state Senate Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature, Kevin can be seen offering his views on the news on the public affairs program, "InterCHANGE," on Milwaukee Public Television Channel 10, and heard filling in on Newstalk 1130 WISN. He lives with his wife, Jennifer, and their lovely baby daughter, Kyla Audrey, in Franklin.

The liberal MJS just got more liberal

In today’s Crossroads section of the daily liberal paper, Ricardo Pimentel insists he was not fired as the Journal Sentinel’s editorial page editor.  Pimentel probably felt the need to clarify because the buzz is that he was told to relinquish that duty.

Pimentel tells readers, “You believe what you want.”  OK, it seems Pimentel may have been demoted. Whatever the case, Pimentel claims he’s once again doing what he loves best: writing columns.

Pimentel’s first piece since he got his new role provides a weak defense of his clear liberal philosophies that he attempts to dance around. I’ll give my ultra-lefty friend Joel McNally credit. He’s an unabashed far lefty. So many liberals are afraid, even ashamed to admit their ideology. They use the word, “progressive.” Some claim to be moderate which is even worse because now you are consistently inconsistent. C’mon, if you’re a lib, just buck up and say so.

Now that Pimentel is going to be writing more, get ready for one flaming lefty piece after another. Just what the struggling newspaper needs: another local liberal columnist.

Here’s an example of what to expect: This is a 2004 column Pimentel wrote at the Arizona Republic staunchly advocating driver’s licenses for illegal aliens. Those who oppose this radical idea, according to Pimentel, “have only stereotypes to further their case.”

With the latest shake-up, the conservative-bashing on the MJS pages not only continues but is expanding.
