Conservatively Speaking

State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.

Election Day is November 2....let's vote today

“Never mind that October is filled to the brim with televised debates, advertising pitches and eager anticipation from candidates waiting to see if they win the endorsement of their local newspaper’s editorial page. These old political rituals take place after millions of voters have already selected their candidates.

At least one-third of all ballots across the country this year will be cast before Election Day, party officials said…”

The New York Times, September 27, 2010

According to the newspaper,
people are already voting for mid-term elections in Ohio, Georgia, Iowa and four other states. Arizona, California and Illinois begin voting within the next two weeks.

You may recall Wisconsin’s Government Accountability Board (GAB) last year considered expanding early voting. I testified before the GAB it needed to proceed with caution.

Ultimately, the GAB recommended against early voting in its final report. Instead, the GAB advocated improvements in Wisconsin’s absentee voting system.

Anyone in Wisconsin can vote using an absentee ballot. Excuses are unnecessary.

Here is more information from the GAB.
